What Flick is

Flick presents a bounded decision batch: a named snapshot of selected Gmail accounts, rendered one message at a time. The interaction is a swipe, but the product claim is about the finish, not the gesture — Flick’s stated target is a Verified Finish, a receipt that names the accounts checked, the snapshot time, the scan limits, the confirmed actions, the failed accounts and the exclusions.

That is deliberately narrower than “inbox zero”. A Verified Finish never represents that a mailbox is empty, and it excludes new mail, failed accounts and messages outside the stated scan. It is the pilot’s acceptance contract, not a claim that every current build already satisfies it.

Flick is built by the team behind Belkins (B2B email and sales) and Folderly (email deliverability). The founder and named author is Vladyslav Podoliako.

Availability

Flick is in a contained private pilot. New purchases and new mailbox connections are paused while Flick validates account boundaries, provider-confirmed actions, billing state and repeat use with a small allowlisted group. No public plan or price is being offered during the pilot, and the browser companion is not offered to new users.

The only surface open to everyone is a fabricated sample-only demo. It contains invented messages and cannot connect to, read or change a real mailbox. Read the pilot status or the product contract for the full boundary.

What each decision actually does

  • Archive removes the exact displayed message snapshot from Inbox and preserves unread state. A newer message arriving in the same conversation stays in Inbox.
  • Keep records a Flick decision and does not itself change Gmail. A later message in the conversation is treated as a new inbound version.
  • Reply can create a draft for the user to review. It is never a sent message.
  • Unsubscribe records a request result, not proof that a sender stopped future mail.

Actions fail closed. A stale, foreign, disconnected or ambiguous action is refused rather than guessed at, and an unconfirmed provider action makes a Verified Finish unavailable.

Provider access and authorization

Flick supports Gmail. For Google accounts it requests the restricted gmail.modify OAuth scope. Google describes that grant as permission to read, compose and send email in addition to modifying labels — technically broader than Flick’s interface uses. The current Flick build does not expose or invoke Gmail Send. Approved replies are created as drafts for the user to review and send.

Flick does not claim IMAP, Outlook, Yahoo or iCloud support. Gmail connectivity currently runs on Folderly infrastructure from the same team, which is why the Google consent screen can identify Folderly; that is disclosed in the privacy policy rather than hidden.

Privacy, in the negative

Flick never sells user data.

Flick never shows ads or shares data with ad networks — no ad or IDFA tracking on iOS.

Flick never trains AI models on user mail, and does not instruct Anthropic to train on it.

Flick does not maintain a general copy of a mailbox. Selected message content is processed request-scoped when a user asks for a feature; minimal action state and encrypted approved draft text can persist temporarily for delivery and reconciliation.

Named subprocessors: Folderly (Gmail connectivity), Nylas (email connectivity for connected mailboxes), Google (OAuth and Gmail APIs), Google Analytics (aggregate traffic), Anthropic (AI reply drafting), Vercel (hosting), Railway (database hosting) and Stripe (web payments). Flick’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Deletion has a stated limit worth quoting accurately: provider email already changed by an action remains at the mail provider unless the user changes it there, and payment, tax, refund, dispute, security and legally required records may be retained under their own obligations. Deleting a Flick account does not itself cancel an external subscription.

The Exit Gap Index — and what it does not claim

The Exit Gap method is public at /exit: it measures the distance between the machine unsubscribe path a sender advertises and the human path a person actually walks. Google requires senders of more than 5,000 messages a day to personal Gmail accounts to offer one-click unsubscribe (RFC 8058) on covered marketing and subscribed mail — but carrying that header is capability, not honor.

How Flick compares

Flick is an email-product company, so every comparison it publishes discloses that conflict, and a page that did not connect a live test mailbox is labelled a documented product guide rather than a hands-on test. That rule is written down in the editorial policy.

On the public record for Unroll.Me: reporting in 2017 revealed that Slice Intelligence, Unroll.Me’s then-parent, sold Uber anonymized Lyft ride-receipt data harvested from Unroll.Me users’ inboxes.
